AI cover letters, written for the job in front of you
FAFJ already has the job description and your resume. One click turns them into a cover letter for that job, built only from what is true about you.
Free and unlimited. No card, no time limit.
How it works
- Open a job in FAFJ that has its description. The browser extension saves it when you click Apply, or paste the posting's link.
- In the Cover letter card, pick a resume (if you keep more than one) and add a note if you like: a referral, a move, why this company.
- Click Write cover letter. It uses 1 AI credit; a letter that fails or that you cancel gives the credit back.
- Read it, edit it, and export it.
The letter is 3 or 4 paragraphs, 200 to 280 words, leading with your strengths and why you want the job. Letters are written in US English: US spelling, the serial comma, and complete sentences. FAFJ adds the header from your Resume Profile (your name and contact details, never made up), the date and the greeting. When the posting names the hiring manager, the letter greets them by first name. If you ran AI Match on the job, the letter can draw on that analysis too.
Only what's true
The AI is told to use only facts in your resume or your note, and never to invent employers, titles, dates, numbers, degrees, certifications or skills. It doesn't claim things neither one says, like your visa status, your salary expectations or that you would relocate. When the posting asks for something your resume doesn't show, the letter leaves it out instead of pretending.
It is also told never to open with "I am writing to express my interest". You're welcome.
Edit it like a document, then export
Every letter is a new numbered draft, so you can write another and switch between them. Each draft opens as a clean page you edit like a document: click anywhere to change a word or rewrite a paragraph, and it saves as you go. Deleted one by mistake? Undo brings it back, and deleted drafts can be restored for 30 days. A draft tells you when it was written for an older version of the job description or your resume.
When it reads right, download it as a Word document or save it to Google Docs or OneDrive. Saving to Google Docs again updates the same Doc instead of making a new one.
AI only when you click
FAFJ writes letters with Anthropic's Claude. It sends the resume you picked, the job's description, company and title, your note, and the names of the people saved on the application. AI runs only when you ask, and your data is never used to train AI. Turn off AI in Settings and FAFJ stops writing new letters; the ones you have stay. AI features · Privacy Policy
Questions
Is the AI cover letter generator free?
Cover letters are part of Pro and use the same AI credits as AI Match: 1 credit for each letter. FAFJ's job application tracker itself is free and unlimited.
Will the letter make things up?
It is instructed to use only facts from your resume and your note, and to leave out anything the posting asks for that your resume doesn't show. Read it before you send it anyway: it's your name at the bottom.
Can I edit the letter?
Yes. Each draft opens as a page you edit like a document, right on the application. Export saves your latest typing first, then downloads a Word document or saves it to Google Docs or OneDrive.
Does it need the job description?
Yes. Each letter is written for one job, so the application needs its description. The browser extension saves it when you click Apply; you can also paste the posting's link or add the description yourself.
