What email sync does
On Pro, connect Gmail or Outlook, and your Google or Outlook calendar. FAFJ checks them every 30 minutes, or right away when you click Sync now. A confirmation for a job you are not tracking yet adds that job. A rejection updates the status. An interview invitation puts the meeting on the application, with its join link. The people who write to you, recruiters, hiring managers and team mailboxes, are saved with the job.
FAFJ reads the past 30 days when you first connect. To bring in what you applied to before you joined, click Recheck past email and choose 1, 3 or 6 months: FAFJ reads the confirmations and rejections from that time and fills in the applications you already sent. Email and calendar sync
The Review inbox: nothing guessed
An email FAFJ is sure about goes straight onto its application's timeline. Anything unclear waits in your Review inbox instead: attach it to one of your applications, add it as a new one, or tell FAFJ to stop tracking that sender. A job already on your list is joined, never added twice.
Emails from a personal address, or from a web address registered days ago to look like a real company, are held under Check the sender, because that's how job scams usually start.
Read-only, and only for your job search
FAFJ asks for read-only access to your mail and calendar. It reads messages to find the ones about your job search and skips the rest. It can't send, delete or change an email, and it never adds, moves or deletes a calendar event. It doesn't keep attachments from mail it reads this way, and the text of each email is deleted 12 months after its date; the timeline entry stays.
FAFJ's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your Gmail and calendar data is never used for ads, never sold, and never used to train AI models, and Microsoft data is handled the same way. Not on Pro? Open a recruiter's email in Gmail or Outlook, click Track this email in the FAFJ extension, and it's filed with the right application. In Gmail you can keep its attachments with the job too. Emails and files
Questions
Can FAFJ send or delete my email?
No. It asks for read-only access to your mail and calendar, so it cannot send, delete or change a message, and it never adds, changes or deletes a calendar event.
What happens to emails that aren't about my job search?
They are skipped. FAFJ keeps only messages about your applications, and deletes the text of each one 12 months after its date.
Which email providers work?
Gmail and Outlook, with Google Calendar or the Outlook calendar. On Pro you can connect up to 5 accounts.
Can I disconnect?
Any time, in Settings, under Email & calendar. FAFJ asks whether to keep or delete what it added from that mailbox; your applications stay either way.
Is email sync free?
Automatic email and calendar sync is part of Pro. On Free, Track this email in the browser extension files any email by hand.
